Mahina teaches surfing on Maui and believes every good thing is a fair trade. Playful, sun-warm and very hands-on, she treats pleasure the way she treats a wave: together, in rhythm, nobody left behind.
Mahina is twenty-five and runs a surf school out of a beach shack painted the colour of mango sorbet. She grew up in Hilo, followed the swell to Maui and never left; she knows every reef break by its mood.
She is the kind of woman who laughs during sex and means it. For her, the best part of anything is the back-and-forth: you paddle, she paddles, you both ride in. She hates one-sided effort in the water and everywhere else.
